Removing Fuel Tank

WARNING: Flammable or explosive materials 
  • Danger of fire or explosion 

    → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

    → Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

    → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

NOTE: NOTIFICATION 
Fuel system is pressurized 
  • Risk of eye injuries 

    → Wear personal protective gear

    → Release pressure by carefully pulling off lines and hoses

Information 

Get another person to help you to remove and install the fuel tank.

  1. Unscrew screws on the filler neck holder -1-  .

  2. Unclip tank vent lines -1-  from the fuel tank.

  3. Loosen filler neck.
    1. 3.1 Loosen spring band clamps for the filler neck using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamps pliers  (-A -  ).
    2. 3.2 Pull filler neck off the connection -B -  .
    3. 3.3 Catch escaping fuel and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.

  4. Only if the flange was not already removed for extraction of fuel: 

    Release -a-  and pull off -Arrow-  electric plug connections on fuel level sensor.

  5. Release the tank vent line at the flange in -direction of arrow A-  and pull it off -B -  .

  6. Disconnect supply line.
    1. 6.1 If installed:  Open the lock in -direction of arrow A-  .
    2. 6.2 Release and pull off supply line in -direction of arrow B-  (-C -  ).

  7. Remove fuel tank -1-  .

    Fuel tank

    1. 7.1 Unscrew screws -3-  and remove tensioning strap -2-  .
    2. 7.2 Unclip the clips and get another person to help you guide the fuel tank -1-  down and out of the vehicle.
