Draining Fuel Using Fuel Extractor

Disconnect cable plug -1- on the fuel tank flange.

Information

Watch out for emerging fuel when disconnecting fuel lines. Place a clean cloth on the connection point, then loosen the connection.
Release the tank vent line at the fuel tank -A- and pull it off -B- .

1. 3.1 Open the lock -A- .
2. 3.2 Release -B- and pull off -C- fuel line.

Due to fuel vapors, position a suction hose -1- close to the flange and switch on the suction device.

Open flange for fuel tank.
1. 5.1 Mark installation position of flange and locking ring.
2. 5.2 Insert special tool > 9731/1 - lug wrench-2- into the grooves on the locking ring -1- .
3. 5.3 Release locking ring on the flange by turning it anti-clockwise and remove it.
  IMPORTANT: High loosening force for locking lugs on the locking ring!
4. 5.4 Lift off flange at the fuel tank.
5. 5.5 Replace seal.

Tool for fuel tank flange
Extract fuel using the fuel extractor.
1. 6.1 Insert suction hose into the fuel tank.
2. 6.2 Drain the fuel.
  1. 6.2.1 Set changeover lever to "Extract fuel/Pump out vehicle".
  2. 6.2.2 Switch on the pump and extract the required amount of fuel.
