Preliminary Work

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials

Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.

→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

→ Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.

→ Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

WARNING: Danger of fire due to escaping fuel and hot engine components

Danger of material damage and injury
→ Only check fuel pressure and delivery rate when the engine is cold.

Information

The battery voltage must not fall below 12.5 volts during the fuel pressure check.
Connect a suitable battery charger.

Connect adjustable charger and set charging voltage to 12.5 volts .

Warning sign when working on the fuel system

Information
- The position of the fuse for the fuel pump can be found in the current Porsche After Sales vehicle electrical system documentation (PAB) fuse assignment.

Relieve fuel pressure in the system.
Pull out fuse for fuel pump.
Start the engine, wait until it stops and then re-insert the fuse.
Only for Cabriolet:
Move convertible top to service position.

Refer to the appropriate service information.
Remove engine-compartment blower cover and engine-compartment blower at the left.

Only for Carrera:
Remove acoustic simulator line at the left -1- .

Press locking rings -Arrows- together and pull off the line.

Fuel low-pressure line plug-in coupling connection

Unclip low-pressure fuel line (line to the fuel tank) -3- .
1. 8.1.1 Carefully open the locking clip using a small slotted screwdriver and unclip line by pulling it downwards.
  Carefully pull the lock (red) -Arrow- on the plug-in coupling -1- down as far as the locking point using a small slotted screwdriver, making sure not to damage the lock.
  
  Disconnect fuel low-pressure line -2- .
  
  Collect escaping fuel.
