Installing Valve-Stem Seals

Information 

The required assembly sleeve is included with the new valve-stem seals.

Install new  valve-stem seals.

1. Insert lower valve-spring plate.

   Lightly oil the valve stem and fit assembly sleeve.

   Slide new valve-stem seal over the sleeve by hand.

2. Use > 9606/1 - assembly driver  or > 3365 - fitting tool  to press the valve-stem seal as far as it will go onto the valve stem -arrow-  .

   Remove tool and assembly sleeve.

   Information 

   • The flexible rotating head of the assembly cartridge must be positioned almost on the assembly cartridge. 
   • If this is not the case, the valve key mounting will not be positioned over the valve stem and the valve keys will not be moved to the correct position. 

1. Position valve keys in Insertion tool PO/11  and pick them up with assembly cartridge.

2. Install valve springs -1 and 2-  and upper valve-spring plates.

   Insert valve springs -1- and 2-  in such a way that the markings -Arrows-  are facing you.

3. Insert guide bush PO/18 or PO/19  and push it down as far as it will go.

   Insert assembly cartridge with secured valve keys into the guide bush.

4. Engage pressure fork with lever -3-  at a suitable position on the engaging lock -2-  and support it on the assembly cartridge -4-  .

5. Press the valve springs together using the pressure fork.

   Release assembly cartridge by pulling the rotary knob -1-  in - direction of arrow, top - so that the valve keys are positioned on the valve stem.

6. Remove pressure folk with lever and assembly cartidge and check that the valve keys are seated correctly.

   if necessary, pick up the valve keys again and insert them again.
