Removing Roof Trim Panel

Information 

To reduce the forces during removal and thereby the risk of damage, the removal steps must be carried out at the accessible connection points using a suitable tool.

Information 

Some of the steps are shown only on one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

1. For vehicles with a sliding roof:  Open sliding roof fully.
2. Move driver's and passenger's seat backrest back as far as it will go.
3. Pull off rubber seal for front door in the work area.
4. Unclip rebound strap for headliner -1-  at the rear -2-  .

   Rebound strap

   1. 4.1  Release front retaining lug on the clip using a small screwdriver -3-  by pushing it inward -arrows B-  and lift up rebound strap -1-  at the same time -arrow A-  .
   2. 4.2  Release rear retaining lug in the same way and detach rebound strap with clip.
5. Remove sun visor holder -1-  .

   1. 5.1  Open the cover -2-  (-arrow-  ).
   2. 5.2  Unscrew screw -3-  under the cover -2-  and remove sun visor holder -1-  .
6. Unscrew screws -1-  from the headliner -2-  .

7. Only for vehicles with sliding roof:  Unscrew screws in the sliding roof area.

8. Only for vehicles with a sliding roof:  Unclip headliner in the covering frame area by pulling it downwards -arrow-  (-1-).

9. Unclip headliner -1-  at the sides from front to rear -2-  .

10. Unclip roof trim panel -1-  in the rear area -2-  and loosen Velcro fasteners -3-  .

    Information 

    The help of another person is required. One person at the driver's door and the other person at the passenger's door.

    Information 

    Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.

11. Remove headliner.
    1. 11.1  Set front headliner -1-  down on the center console.

    2. 11.2  Turn headliner clockwise -arrow A-  and remove it through the passenger's side -arrow B-  .
