Installing A-Pillar (Coupe)
Information
- Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive.
- The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed.
- Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available.
- Tack on sheetmetal insert used as welding backing strip on the body.
Welded seam backing strip
- Install A-pillar (Coupe) and check that it fits perfectly.
Check gap dimensions.
- Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface -A-
of the body. > Application depth 0.5 mm

Bonding areas
- Apply adhesive on the A-pillar (Coupe) in areas -A-
.
Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. > Application depth 0.5 mm
Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface > Application depth 3 mm

Bonding areas
- Resistance spot-weld the A-pillar (Coupe).
Spotwelds on A-pillar (Coupe)
- Screw in and tighten self-tapping screws -1-

- Rivet in the A-pillar (Coupe).

Flow-form welding rivets
- Apply a full aluminium weld ti the A-pillar (Coupe) in area -A-
.
Cut on roof pillar
- Apply a full weld to the A-pillar (Coupe) in area -A-
using inert gas.
