Preparing Roof Pillar For Installation

Fit in the roof pillar.
Information

Mark cuts in accordance with the new part. Make sure to leave an overlap of approx. 30 mm with respect to the body.
1. 1.1 Cut the roof pillar at the point where it joins the body leaving an overlap of > 30 mm .
2. 1.2 Fit in roof pillar and secure it to the body.

  Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.
3. 1.3 Make a cut through the roof pillar and body in the overlap area.
Cut sheetmetal inserts used as a welding backing strip for the weld areas from the old roof pillar.
Drill bore holes for self-tapping screws -1- through the existing holes with > Diameter 4 mm .

Remove roof pillar.
Prepare marked areas -A- for bonding and resistance spot-welding.

Prepare marked area -B- for applying a full weld using inert gas.
