Replacing Control Unit For Rear Spoiler

NOTE: NOTIFICATION 
Voltage drop 
  • Irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming 

    → Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.

    → Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.

    → Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The instructions in the Tester  take precedence, since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in the Tester. 

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

  3. Select the vehicle type if necessary.
  4. Select the rear spoiler  control unit in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  5. Select Coding/programming. 
  6. Select Automatic coding.  Press F12 to continue.
    1. 6.1  The Tester displays the message: Coding was completed successfully.
  7. Go back to the overview. 
  8. In the overview  , press F7 to switch to the Additional menu. 
  9. Read out all fault memories  , work through faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memories.
  10. Go back to the overview. 
  11. Select the rear spoiler  control unit in the overview.  Press F12 to continue.
  12. Select Maintenance/repairs. 
  13. Select Teach rear spoiler. 
    1. 13.1  Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester.
    2. 13.2  Teach rear spoiler according to menu guidance.
    3. 13.3  The Tester displays the message: Rear spoiler taught successfully.

      Only for Targa vehicles, continue with Step 14.

      For all other vehicles, continue with Step 15.

  14. Calibrate Targa roof.

  15. Go back to the overview. 
  16. In the overview  , press F7 to switch to the Additional menu. 
  17. Read out all fault memories  , work through faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memories.
  18. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
