Adjusting Rear Lid
Installation position
Information
- Adjust gap dimensions on lid and accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
- Given a clearance in the opening that is too great or too small, the accessories must be centred with respect to the body.
- Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
- The given values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible.
- The guidelines apply to repair work and assembly work.
- Use star gauges to check the gap dimensions. > VAS 6937 - Adjusting gauge
Information
- The side adjusting element s on the rear lid must be adjusted so that there is a slight preload when the rear lid is closed completely.
- The preload must be the same on the left and right.
- Check gap dimension of rear lid.
- Disengage rear pneumatic spring at the lid side.
- Adjust position of rear lid.

Loosen screws -1-
on rear lid -2-
and then tighten again hand-tight.

Adjust the contours with respect to the side panel and rear spoiler by moving -arrow-

- 3.3 Tighten screws to > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) .

Loosen screws -1-
on rear lid -2-
and then tighten again hand-tight.
- Adjust height of rear lid.
- Screw out adjusting elements for the rear lid -1-
until it makes contact with the cross member/side panel.

- Engage rear pneumatic springs at the lid.
