Adjusting Front Lid

Installation position

1. Check the gap dimensions of front lid -1-  with respect to the body.

2. Adjust front lid in X-Y direction  .

   0X00IN VEHICLE COORDINATE SYSTEM

   Unclip cover on hinge -1-  using a plastic wedge and remove it.

   1. 2.2  Loosen nuts -1-  on front lid hinge -2-  until the front lid can be moved.

   2. 2.3  Close cover and adjust gap by moving it.

      >  WM, 5X00IN41 GAP DIMENSION 

   3. 2.4  Tighten nuts with > Torque 10 Nm (7.4 ftlb.)  .
3. Adjust the front lid in its back area in the Z direction  .

   Screws

   1. 3.1  Remove cover.

      >  WM, 508719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER 

   2. 3.2  Remove gas spring -1-  .

      553119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING GAS SPRING FRONT  - information on "Removing"

   3. 3.3  Loosen screws -2-  on the hinge until the cover can be moved.
   4. 3.4  Close cover and adjust gap by moving it.

      >  WM, 5X00IN41 GAP DIMENSION 

   5. 3.5  Tighten screws to > Torque 10 Nm (7.4 ftlb.)  .
   6. 3.6  Install the gas spring front.

   7. 3.7  Install cover.

      >  WM, 508719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER 

4. Adjust the front lid in the front area in the Z direction  .

   1. 4.1  Detach luggage compartment trim -1-  and pull it to the rear -Arrow-  .

   2. 4.2  Loosen nuts -1-  until the front lock, lower part -2-  can be moved.

   3. 4.3  Adjust the gap dimension by moving the front lock, lower part.

      >  WM, 5X00IN41 GAP DIMENSION 

   4. 4.4  Check whether the front lock, upper part, runs straight into the front lock, lower part, without tension. Loosen the front lock, lower part, again if necessary and eliminate the tension.
   5. 4.5  Tighten nuts with > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)  .
   6. 4.6  Position luggage compartment trim -1-  and secure it.
