Preliminary Work
Information
The calibration process sends out radar beams, which the doppler generator reflects. This simulates a vehicle.
A certain number of radar beams are expected in a defined time due to the defined position of the Doppler generator.
Deviations indicate that the control units are not at the correct installation position.
These deviations are displayed on the Porsche System Tester.
Information
The following tools are required for calibration:
- Calibration plates and wheel center mountings: > VAS 6350A - Calibration unit .
- Doppler generator: > VAS 6350/4 - Calibration Unit for Lane Change Assist .
- Spacing laser: > VAS 6350/2A - Spacing laser .
Information
The following conditions must be observed in order to perform calibration:
- Calibration must only be performed on level ground.
- The vehicle must be empty.
- Wheels must be positioned straight ahead.
- Vehicle doors must be closed.
- Tires must have the specified air pressure.
- On vehicles with air suspension, the chassis height must be set to Normal or Medium and suspension levelling (air suspension) must be completed.
- The retractable trailer hitch must be retracted.
- The engine must not be running during calibration.
- Make sure there is enough space behind the vehicle; no metal objects for the Doppler generator.
- Make sure that no objects are moved or no-one moves behind the vehicle during calibration.
- There must be no heavy soiling in the sensor area on the front apron.
- There must be no stickers in the sensor area on the rear apron.
- The calibration plates, wheel center mountings and the Doppler generators must be fitted, centered/aligned in accordance with the operating instructions.
Workshop conditions
- The system must only be calibrated in a suitable area of the workshop.
- This area of the workshop must be sheltered from all environmental influences, such as rain, snow and swirling dust.
- The workshop must be at room temperature.
Information
- Vehicles with front axle lift system: Set the front axle lift system to "lower".
- Vehicles with adjustable chassis: Set the chassis to "normal" (medium height).
- The vehicle must be on a level surface.
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and set up the > VAS 6350A - Calibration unit
behind the vehicle in accordance with the operating instructions for VAS 6350.

- Fit reflectors on wheel nut support:
- 2.1 For vehicles without central wheel lock: Fit the wheel nut support with the right and left reflector on both rear wheels on the vehicle in accordance with the operating instructions for > VAS 6350A - Calibration unit . The reflectors must be hanging freely.
- 2.2 For vehicles with central wheel lock: Attach wheel-alignment adapter > VAS 6830 - Wheel-alignment adapter for wheels with central lock to both rear wheels on the vehicle, insert > VAS 6350/7 - Locking Pins into the wheel-alignment adapter and fit reflectors (at the left and right) on the locking pins. The reflectors must be hanging freely.
Fitting reflectors (shown as an example)
- Align the work surface with the center of the vehicle and adjust the line laser to suit the calibration plate in accordance with the operating instructions for VAS 6350.
The values are shown on the PIWIS Tester.
