Preliminary Work
Information
- Vehicles with front axle lift system: Set the front axle lift system to "lower".
- Vehicles with adjustable chassis: Set the chassis to "normal" (medium height).
- The vehicle must be on a level surface.
Information
Check that there is sufficient floor space between the vehicle and the adjustment device - the gap between the adjustment device and vehicle must be 1200 mm.
Once the vehicle and adjustment device are aligned, the vehicle and adjustment device must no longer be moved.
- Perform initial chassis measurement and adjust the chassis if necessary.
- > VAS 6430/1A - Setting Device with Reflector
with > VAS 6430/6 - Enhanced night vision calibration unit
must be set up and aligned parallel with the front of the vehicle in according with the operating instructions for VAS 6430.
Measuring system setup
- For distance -A- from setting device to vehicle, see PIWIS Tester.
- > VAS 6430/6 - Enhanced night vision calibration unit
must be aligned and balanced using the spirit levels.
Aligning measuring system
- VAS 6350/3A Linear laser (contained in > VAS 6350A - Calibration unit set) must be fitted on > VAS 6430/6 - Enhanced night vision calibration unit . VAS 6350/3A Linear laser must now be switched on. A laser beam is projected onto the front of the vehicle. > VAS 6430/1A - Setting Device with Reflector must be aligned by turning the crank on the back so that the laser beam hits the center of the camera lens of the night vision camera in its horizontal position.
- > VAS 6430/6 - Enhanced night vision calibration unit
must be switched on and pre-heated.
If calibration is cancelled because the calibration plate is too cold, the fault memory must be cleared before trying to perform calibration again.
