Replacing PVTS Control Unit (Vehicles With I-No. NZ3 (Emergency Call System Era GLONASS))

NOTE: Voltage drop
  • Irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming/coding 
    1. Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
    2. Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
    3. Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Make sure that you have sufficient mobile phone and satellite reception.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the PIWIS Tester  .

IMPORTANT: On vehicles without optional I-no. NZ3 (emergency call system ERA GLONASS), the PVTS control unit is integrated in the control unit for external communication (Connect control unit).

912555 REPLACING CONTROL UNIT FOR EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION

  1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  2. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

  3. Switch to the PPN portal Porsche Car Connect Support  .
  4. Select Replacement of devices  .
    1. 4.1 Enter the vehicle identification no.
    2. 4.2 Check vehicle details; the vehicle contract status must be set to active  .
    3. 4.3 Press the button Initialize procedure for replacing a device  .
    4. 4.4 Select a reason for replacement.
    5. 4.5 Replacement of devices  can now be started.
    6. 4.6 Wait for the timer to end, read instructions and press Next  .
    7. 4.7 Document the displayed installation code  .
    8. 4.8 Exit the portal.
  5. Replace PVTS control unit.

    Information 

    Before installing the new control unit, the control unit specifications must be documented/photographed.

    If a problem occurs while teaching/activating the control unit following installation, you will need the control unit specifications for the Hotline.

    1. 5.1 Read and carry out the following instructions:
  6. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  7. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

  8. Select the vehicle type if required.
  9. Select the Porsche Vehicle Tracking System (PVTS)  control unit in the overview  . Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  10. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  11. Start-up  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
    1. 11.1 Read and follow the information and instructions on the Tester.
    2. 11.2 Perform procedure according to menu guidance.
  12. Back to the overview.
  13. Read out the fault memory  , correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
  14. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
