Replacing Remote Control (Hand-Held Transmitter)

Information 

• All remote controls (keys) are required for teaching a DME, rear-end electronics (rear BCM), electronic steering lock (ELV) control unit for example, or for teaching remote controls (keys). 
• Remote controls (keys) that are not taught during this teaching procedure will no longer be recognized by the vehicle.

The instructions in the Tester  take precedence, since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in the Tester  .

1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
2. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

3. Select the vehicle type if required.
4. In the overview  , press F7 to switch to the Additional menu. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
5. Engine immobiliser start-up  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
   1. 5.1 Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester.
   2. 5.2 Teach engine immobiliser according to menu guidance.
   3. 5.3 The Tester displays the message: Engine immobiliser taught successfully.
6. Go back to the overview.
7. Read out the fault memory  , correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
8. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
9. Lock, open and start the vehicle using all remote controls.
