Calibrating Front Camera

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming/coding 

    → Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.

    → Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.

    → Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The required height of the calibration board and the distance of the calibration board from the vehicle will not be displayed on the wheel alignment computer. These values are stored under Front camera calibration in the Tester.

The instructions in the Tester  take precedence, since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in the Tester  .

  1. Set the front axle to "lower" on vehicles with lift system or to "normal" on vehicles with an adjustable chassis.
  2. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  3. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

  4. Select the vehicle if required.
  5. Select the Assistance system  control unit in the overview. Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  6. Coding/programming  must be selected.
  7. Automatic coding  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
    1. 7.1 The Tester displays the message: Coding was completed successfully.
  8. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  9. Front camera calibration  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
    1. 9.1 Read and follow the information and instructions on the Tester.
    2. 9.2 Set up the calibration unit. Observe adjustment values on the Tester.

    3. 9.3 Before starting the calibration process, write down the height of all four wheel housing edges. These must be measured from the floor (vehicle standing level) to the highest point of each wheel housing edge and must be specified in mm.
    4. 9.4 Disconnect battery charger and close the front lid.
    5. 9.5 Start the calibration process by pressing F8. The vehicle must not be moved.
    6. 9.6 Read and follow the information and instructions displayed on the Tester.
    7. 9.7 Perform calibration according to menu guidance.
    8. 9.8 The Tester displays the message: Calibration complete.
  10. Read out the fault memory  , correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
  11. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
