Preliminary Work

  1. Disconnect the battery.

    > 2X00IN WORK INSTRUCTIONS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY

  2. Relieve pressure in the coolant system.

    > 193817 DRAINING AND FILLING COOLANT

  3. Remove rear wheels.

    > 440519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL

  4. Remove exhaust system.

    > 260119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING EXHAUST SYSTEM

  5. Remove rear anti-roll bar.

    > 429019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR ANTI-ROLL BAR

  6. Disconnect shift and selector cables at the transmission.

    > 341219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SHIFT AND SELECTOR CABLES 

  7. Remove rear-axle cross member.

    > 420619 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR-AXLE CROSS MEMBER

  8. Loosen left and right drive shaft on the transmission.

    > 422119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE SHAFT

  9. Remove both transmission mounts.

    > 374019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION MOUNT

  10. Remove clutch slave cylinder from the transmission.

    > 303019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER

    Do not disconnect the clutch line.  The clutch fluid circuit must not be opened.
