Removing Rear Brake Disc

Information 

The instructions in the PIWIS Tester  take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy, these are the instructions that must be followed. A discrepancy may arise with later software versions.

  1. Move rear brake into installation position.
    1. 1.1  > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II  must be connected and started.
    2. 1.2  Select Parking brake.
    3. 1.3  Select Maintenance/repair.
    4. 1.4  Move to installation position.
  2. Release and disconnect electric plug connection for the brake pad wear indicator -1-  and remove it from the holder -2- (-arrow-)  .
  3. Unscrew and remove fastening screw for the holder -2-  .
  4. Remove holder -2-  from the wheel carrier.

    Plug connection for brake pad wear indicator

    Information 

    Do not open the brake hydraulic system (brake line remains connected). 

  5. Remove brake calliper.
    1. 5.1  Unscrew fastening screws -arrows-  .

      Information 

      If the brake calliper cannot be removed easily, the brake pads must be pressed back slightly and evenly using a suitable tool (e.g. an assembly wedge) in order to get over the edge of the brake disc. To prevent damage, do not insert hard objects between the brake pad and brake disc! 

    2. 5.2  Remove brake calliper.

      Information 

      Make sure that the brake line is not strained and that the coating/paint on the brake calliper is not damaged!

    3. 5.3  Suspend brake calliper at a suitable position in the wheel housing using a suitable aid (e.g. a welding rod).

  6. Unscrew fastening screws -arrows  - and remove brake disc.
