Bleeding The Brake System

Information
- Check brake fluid quality. Use only new DOT 4 brake fluid.
- This brake fluid can be ordered from the Porsche Electronic Parts Catalogue (PET).
- Unscrew cap -2- on brake fluid reservoir -1- .
- Connect bleeding device to the brake fluid reservoir -1-
and switch it on. > Pressure 2 bar

Information
- There are two bleeder valves on the brake calliper. Brake fluid must be drained at both bleeder valves. Always bleed the outer bleeder valve first.
- Use a transparent hose and a collecting bottle to check the escaping brake fluid for cleanliness, absence of air bubbles and to determine the amount of brake fluid used.
- Bleed the brake system at the brake callipers.
- 3.1 Connect a collecting bottle with a transparent hose to the relevant bleeder valve.
- 3.2 Open the relevant bleeder valve and keep it open until clear brake fluid with no air bubbles emerges.
- 3.3 During the bleeding process, a second fitter must operate the brake pedal slowly and continuously.
- 3.4 As soon as clear brake fluid with no air bubbles emerges, close the bleeder valve and repeat the process for the next bleeder valve > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.3 ftlb)
- Only after removing and installing the hydraulic unit or brake master cylinder:
Bleed the secondary circuit using > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II
.
- 4.1 Select in the control unit overview.
- 4.2 must now be selected.
- 4.3 must be selected.
- 4.4 Bleed in accordance with instructions on > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II .
- 4.5 Remove bleeder hoses and close bleeder valves > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.3 ftlb.)
- 4.6 PIWIS Tester II must new be disconnected.
- Switch off the bleeding device and disconnect it from the brake fluid reservoir -1-
.
Information
The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX markings.
- Visually inspect the brake fluid level and correct it if necessary.
- Screw on cap -2-
