Bleeding The Brake System

Information 

  1. Unscrew cap -2-  on brake fluid reservoir -1-  .
  2. Connect bleeding device to the brake fluid reservoir -1-  and switch it on. > Pressure 2 bar

    Brake fluid reservoir

    Information 

    • There are two bleeder valves on the brake calliper. Brake fluid must be drained at both bleeder valves. Always bleed the outer bleeder valve first. 
    • Use a transparent hose and a collecting bottle to check the escaping brake fluid for cleanliness, absence of air bubbles and to determine the amount of brake fluid used. 
  3. Bleed the brake system at the brake callipers.
    1. 3.1  Connect a collecting bottle with a transparent hose to the relevant bleeder valve.
    2. 3.2  Open the relevant bleeder valve and keep it open until clear brake fluid with no air bubbles emerges.
    3. 3.3  During the bleeding process, a second fitter must operate the brake pedal slowly  and continuously.
    4. 3.4  As soon as clear brake fluid with no air bubbles emerges, close the bleeder valve and repeat the process for the next bleeder valve > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.3 ftlb) 
  4. Only after removing and installing the hydraulic unit or brake master cylinder:  Bleed the secondary circuit using > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II  .
    1. 4.1  Select in the control unit overview.
    2. 4.2  must now be selected.
    3. 4.3  must be selected.
    4. 4.4  Bleed in accordance with instructions on > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II  .
    5. 4.5  Remove bleeder hoses and close bleeder valves > Tightening torque 14 Nm (10.3 ftlb.) 
    6. 4.6  PIWIS Tester II must new be disconnected.
  5. Switch off the bleeding device and disconnect it from the brake fluid reservoir -1-  .

    Information 

    The brake fluid level must be between the MIN and MAX markings.

  6. Visually inspect the brake fluid level and correct it if necessary.
  7. Screw on cap -2-  on brake fluid reservoir -1-  .
