Power-Steering Gear: Teaching Steering Lock Settings
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
Information
- If the steering gear is replaced, the steering lock settings must be taught.
- The steering lock settings are cleared after calibrating the steering-angle sensor and must be re-taught.
- Teach steering lock settings when the vehicle is stationary, with engine running.
Turn the steering wheel fully to the right and then to the left and hold it at full lock for a short time in each case.
- Check the teaching process
To do this, select >>Power steering<< in the control unit overview on > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II . then select the entries >>Status of teaching process, right<< and >>Status of teaching process, left<< in the >>Actual values/input Signals<< menu. Both entries must show the value "taught fully (status 2)".
- If the steering lock settings cannot be taught:
- Calibrate the steering-angle sensor first. (This will clear the limit stops.)
- Then re-teach the steering lock settings.
