Disassembling Steering Wheel

  1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  on rear cover -2-  .

  2. Release control unit -1-  at position -arrow-  and pull it forward slightly.

  3. Remove rear cover -2-  .

  4. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  for the paddles -2-  .

  5. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  for the paddles.

  6. Lift paddles -2-  up and off.

  7. Unclip rear trims at positions -arrows-  using a suitable thin tool [e.g. feeler gauge].

    Removing rear trims

  8. Only for heated steering wheel:  Release electric plug connection -1-  from the rear trim at the 6 o'clock position -2-  and disconnect it.

  9. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  on the main trim.

  10. Lift main trim -1 - straight up.

  11. Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-  and remove main trim -2-  .

  12. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  for the multi-functional switch -2-  and front trim -3-  .

  13. Remove multi-functional switch -2-  with cables and front trim -3-  .
  14. If Mode switch is installed, disconnect electric plug connection -1-  and remove Mode switch -2-  from the steering wheel.

  15. Disconnect connector -1-  from connector lugs.

  16. Unscrew fastening screws -1-  on the contact bridge -2-  and remove contact bridge.

  17. Release electric plug connection -1-  for wire harness -2-  from the control unit -3-  and disconnect it. On vehicles with heated steering wheel, the electric plug connection for the heated steering wheel must also be loosened at the control unit.

  18. Release wire harness -1-  at positions -arrows-  from the steering wheel skeleton -2-  and remove it.
