Setting Up The Measuring System

Information
Check that there is sufficient floor space between the vehicle and the adjustment device - the gap between the adjustment device and the vehicle must be 120 cm.
The vehicle can be reversed onto the axle alignment platform if there is not enough floor space in front of the measuring platform.
The vehicle must be positioned so that the front and rear axles are centered on turnplates/sliding plates.

The procedure described here is for the > VAS 6292 - Wheel-alignment system with Hawkeye sensors and the > V.A.G 1813F - Wheel Alignment Computer .
Deviations can occur with other alignment systems.
- Select the relevant vehicle in the wheel alignment computer .
- Select quick function Calibrate distance measuring sensor .
- Fit instrument holders onto the wheels on the rear axle.
- Fit the rear sensors onto the rear axle using the spoiler adapter (Beissbarth only, this sets the sensors to a lower position).
- Align the rear sensors on the rear axle using the spirit level and clamp the instrument holders using the wing screws.
Information
Once the vehicle and adjustment device are aligned, the vehicle and adjustment device must no longer be moved.
- The vehicle is standing on turnplates/sliding plates that are released on one side, allowing the vehicle to be moved slightly.
- If the vehicle is moved while taking measurements on the turnplates, the measurement process must be repeated.
- If the adjustment device is moved following alignment, the measurement process must be repeated.
- Attach the front sensors to the measuring mirror, align using the spirit level and clamp.
- 6.1 Centre the adjustment tool.
- 6.2 The distance between the adjustment tool and the vehicle should be approx. 120 cm, the distance between the adjustment tool and the distance measuring sensor should be approx. 130 cm.
- 6.3 The distance between the left sensor and the vehicle -Bl- should be identical to the distance between the right sensor and the vehicle -Br- .
- Switch on (initialise) the sensors.
