Subsequent Work

WARNING: Steering-angle sensor not calibrated or calibrated incorrectly 
  • Unexpected vehicle handling 
  • Steering-angle sensor does not function 
  • Malfunction in steering-angle sensor 
    • After working on wheel suspension parts, when replacing the steering-angle sensor, and after changing the wheel alignment values, calibrate the steering-angle sensor using the PIWIS Tester  .
    • Keep the front wheels in straight-ahead position on the measuring platform during calibration.
    • For vehicles with electromechanical steering, also re-teach the electric steering lock settings.
  1. If the previous wheel alignment values (on rear and/or front axle) were changed, the following subsequent work must be performed.
  2. Calibrating steering-angle sensor.

  3. Calibrate PASM using PIWIS Tester. 
    1. 3.1  Connect PIWIS Tester  to the vehicle and switch on the ignition.
    2. 3.2  Start diagnosis in the PIWIS Tester  and select vehicle.
    3. 3.3  Select the - PASM control unit  - in the control unit overview.
    4. 3.4  Select the - Maintenance/repairs  - menu.
    5. 3.5  Run the - Calibration  - function.
    6. 3.6  Follow the information on the PIWIS Tester  .
  4. Teaching steering lock settings.

    > 489025 POWER STEERING: TEACHING STEERING LOCK SETTINGS

  5. If installed:  Calibrate front camera.

    > 963855 REPLACING FRONT CAMERA

  6. If installed:  Calibrate distance measuring sensor control unit (ACC sensor).
