Information
- When lowering the engine, it must not rest on the rear-axle cross member.
- The exhaust system must not touch against the body or rear apron when lowering it.
- Loosen clamps on the tailpipe cover if necessary and turn tailpipe cover downwards.
- Always be careful of hoses, lines and cables when lowering the system!
- Always avoid collisions!
Information
- It may only be supported over a large area at the oil pan.
- Localized loading is not permitted.
- Attach or mount a warning sign

- in a clearly visible position on the vehicle.
- Relieve fuel pressure in the system.
- 2.1 Remove cover on the fuse carrier in the passenger compartment at the front left.
- 2.2 In row B -1 -, pull out the (20-amp) fuse -2 - for the fuel pump.
- 2.3 Start the engine, wait until it stops and then re-insert the fuse.
- Remove engine compartment lid.
- Remove air cleaner housing.
- Move charge-air cooler into service position.
- Remove intake-air distributor section on cylinder bank 3 and 4.
Only loosen screws on section for cylinder bank 1 and 2 for better accessibility when removing and installing section for cylinder bank 3 and 4.
- Remove low-pressure sensor.
- Remove rear left wheel.
- Remove cover for rear underbody.

- Loosen heat shield -1
- on cylinder bank 3 to 4.
- 10.1 Unscrew screws -2 - and move heat shield -1 - down at the right.
- Carefully lower the engine.

- 11.1 Lower the engine to ensure better access when guiding out the supply line.
- 11.2 The transmission flange must not be lying on the rear axle carrier; place a solid protective cover between them!
