Remove Fuel Tank

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials

Danger of fire or explosion
- → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
- → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
- → Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
- → Contain leaked media using non-flammable absorbent material and put it in a container designed for this purpose for disposal in accordance with local requirements.
- → Secure collection containers/vessels to prevent them from tipping over.

WARNING: Hot fluid

Danger of scalding
- → Let the fluid cool down.
- → Wear personal protective gear.

WARNING: Caustic fluids

Danger of chemical burns
- → Wear personal protective gear.
- → Ensure that there is good ventilation.
- → Avoid contact with caustic fluid.
- → If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

Information

Watch out for emerging fuel when disconnecting fuel lines. Place a clean cloth on the connection point, then loosen the connection.

Place a warning sign in a clearly visible position in the work area or on the vehicle.

Unclip housing for compressor on the battery console.
Remove battery console -1 -.

1. 3.1 Unscrew fastening screws -2 -.
2. 3.2 Lift the battery console -1 - until the electric plug connections -1 and 2- are accessible.
3. 3.3 Release electric plug connections -1 and 2- under the battery console -arrows "a"- and disconnect them -arrows "A"- .

Loosen filler neck.

4.1 Unscrew fastening screws -1 -.

4.2 Release tank vent line at the filler neck -arrows "A"- and disconnect it -arrow "B"- .

4.3 Release tank vent line at the fuel tank flange -arrows "A"- and disconnect it -arrow "B"- .

4.4 Loosen clamp for filler neck -arrows "A"- and pull filler neck out of the tank flange -arrow "B"- .

4.5 Detach filler neck using a twisting motion and pull it out slightly.

Release -arrows "a"- and disconnect electric plug connections on the fuel tank -arrows- .

Disconnect fuel line on the fuel tank flange.

1. 6.1 Open lock -arrow "A"- and release fuel line -arrows "B"- .
2. 6.2 Pull fuel line up and off -arrow "C"- .
Unclip lines at the top of the fuel tank -1 -.

Disconnect front left coolant pipe.

1. 8.1 Unscrew and remove fastening screw -1 - on the bracket.
2. 8.2 Unclip vent line on the front left coolant pipe -arrows- .
Information

Despite the fact that the coolant has been drained, residual amounts of coolant can still emerge at the joints during removal. Have sufficient collecting containers and cloths to hand.
Remove front left coolant pipe.

1. 9.1 Loosen spring clamps -arrows "A"- .
2. 9.2 Disconnect front left coolant pipe from the connection pieces -arrows "B"- .
3. 9.3 Unclip -arrows "C"- and remove front left coolant pipe at the fastening parts.
Disconnect front right coolant pipe.

1. 10.1 Unscrew and remove fastening screw -1 - on the bracket.
2. 10.2 Unclip fastening parts on the front right coolant pipe -arrows- .
Information

1. 12.1 Unscrew and remove fastening screws -1 - for the fuel tank.
2. 12.2 Disengage the two clips -2 - on the body.
