Performing First Start Function

The bleeding process is performed using the First start function in the PIWIS Tester.

Information

The process in the PIWIS Tester always works only once for each vehicle selection.
To repeat the process, the ignition and PIWIS Tester must be switched off.

Attach connecting cable for PIWIS Tester to the fuse carrier in the left footwell. Switch on ignition and Tester.

- There is no need to create a Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL).
Start the diagnostic program, select the vehicle and then select DME during control unit selection.
1. 2.1 A Vehicle Analysis Log is not required , so press X=No
Switch to the Maintenance/repairs menu.
Select First start in the menu and press >> Next.
1. 4.1 Follow the instructions on the screen and press >> Next.
The next screen display explains how to proceed. The specifications must be adhered to because otherwise, the function cannot be guaranteed.
1. 5.1 Activate the function routine by pressing F8=Start. Check how long it takes to run the function.
2. 5.2 Then start the engine and leave it running for about 5-6 minutes.
3. 5.3 The active function ends automatically after about one minute (at higher revs) and the engine then runs at idle speed.
Switch off the engine and ignition after about 4 minutes.
Wait for control unit run-on!
Wait until the following message is displayed on the screen:
Function ended successfully. Please switch on ignition without starting the engine. Confirm with F12.
Switch off PIWIS Tester, disconnect connecting cable and fit cover on fuse carrier.
