Installing Turbocharger

Move turbocharger into installation position.
1. 1.1 Coat new studs with high-temperature grease.
2. 1.2 Screw in new studs for securing the turbocharger.
On vehicles with Venturi turbocharger connection:

Information
- O-rings must always be replaced.
- O-rings must be coated lightly with Kluber Syntheso Glep.
Secure tank vent line valve -1 - at the bottom of the turbocharger -2 -.
1. 2.1 Coat new O-rings with lubricant.
2. 2.2 Tighten -3 - screw
  > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) (7.4 ftlb.)

Information
- O-rings must always be replaced.

Secure oil pipe -1 - at the top of the turbocharger.
1. 3.1 Coat new O-rings with lubricant.
2. 3.2 Tighten screw -2 -.
  > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

Information
- Replace O-rings on the cooling system.
- Clean plug connection and coolant hoses before assembly.
- Remove stoppers before fitting the coolant lines and hoses.
Secure turbocharger coolant line -1 - to the coolant distributor housing.
1. 4.1 Coat new O-rings with lubricant.
2. 4.2 Insert coolant line on the coolant distributor housing.
3. 4.3 Tighten screw -2 -.
  > Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

Information

1. 6.1 Tighten screw -3 -.

Tighten collar nuts -1 - on the holder -2 -.
> Tightening torque 16 Nm (12 ftlb.)

Secure intake pipe -1 - to the turbocharger -2 -.
1. 8.1 Replace O-ring on the intake pipe.
2. 8.2 Tighten screws -3 -.
  > Tightening torque 12 Nm (9 ftlb.)

Fit vacuum line -1 - for brake booster.
1. 9.1 Check O-rings and replace them if necessary.
2. 9.2 Connect both connection points -Arrow - and check that they are seated securely.

Tighten screw -1 - on heat shield -2 - for the turbocharger oil tank -3 -.
> Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

Fasten new connecting clip -2 - securing catalytic converter -3 - to turbocharger -4 -.
1. 11.1 Fit new gasket on flange from catalytic converter to turbocharger.
2. 11.2 Tighten screw -1 -.
  > Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)

Tighten nuts and studs on the turbocharger/exhaust manifold flange.
1. 12.1 Tighten new studs.
  > Tightening torque 12 Nm (9 ftlb.) + 4 Nm (3 ftlb.)
2. 12.2 Tighten new nuts.
  > Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)
