Preliminary Work

WARNING: Vehicle can fall down 
  • Risk of squashing or crushing 
  • Risk of damage to the vehicle 
    • → Do not place any solid objects under the raised vehicle.
    • → Ensure that the lifting platform is prevented from lowering.
    • → Remove solid objects before lowering the vehicle.
    • → Raise the vehicle only at the jacking points provided.
    • → The outer jacking points should be used primarily.
CAUTION: Hot components 
  • Risk of burns 
    • → Wear personal protective gear.
  1. Start the engine and let it heat up (warm to touch).
  2. Remove rear wall cover.

    > 555919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR WALL COVER - portion on "Removing".

  3. Remove pressure pipe.

    > 214119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PRESSURE PIPE - portion on "Removing".

  4. Only for 2.5-litre engines:  Loosen vibration damper -1-  .
    1. 4.1 Only loosen screws.

  5. Relieve the drive belt.

    > 137801 CHECKING DRIVE BELT .

  6. Only for 2.5-litre engine:  Unscrew screws on the vibration damper and remove vibration damper.
  7. Install vibration damper -1-  for the 2.0-litre engine (see Porsche Spare Parts Catalogue) with the "old" screws and tighten screws -2-  hand-tight.

    This secures each TDC position of the crankshaft for checking.

  8. Remove spark plugs.

    > 287020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING SPARK PLUGS .
