Information
- After removing, installing or replacing, perform the "Sensor wheel adaptation" function using the PIWIS Tester.
- To actively teach the adaptation, perform an adaptation drive together with another person.
- Reset sensor wheel adaptation:
- 2.1 Connect PIWIS Tester to the vehicle.
- 2.2 Select Engine electronics (DME) control unit .
- 2.3 Select Maintenance/repairs tab
- 2.4 Perform Sensor wheel adaptation reset .
- 2.5 Follow the instructions on the PIWIS Tester .
All 982 vehicles with 4 cylinders
- Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive

- 3.1 Get a second person to check the PIWIS Tester while you are driving.
- 3.2 Select Engine electronics (DME) control unit .
- 3.3 Select the "Actual values/input signals " tab.
- 3.4 Select the group "General ".
- 3.5 Select the actual value "Engine speed ".
- 3.6 Select the "M_Misfiring " group.
- 3.7 Select the actual value "M090_Sensor wheel adaptation
".
Value "1" = adapted and (value "0" = not adapted).
- 3.8 Select the "Misfiring " group.
- 3.9 All 982 vehicles with 4 cylinders
Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive .
- 3.9.1 Note the actual value "Segment adaptation for rough running, status

Value "0" = adapted and (value "2" = not adapted)
- 3.9.2 Restore combustion engine to operating temperature.
- 3.9.3 Perform adaptation drive until M090 actual value displays "1 " → Adaptation is complete .
- 3.9.4 Drive with brief acceleration.
- 3.9.5 Then sufficiently long overrun phase (accelerator pedal not pressed, no fuel injection).

- 3.10 All 982 vehicles with 6 cylinders
Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive .
- 3.10.1 Bring combustion engine to operating temperature.
- 3.10.2 Drive smoothly for more than 1 minute.
Generate a minimal load → Slight acceleration or slight ascent.
- 3.10.3 Speed at least 65 km/h.
- 3.10.4 Engine speed → 1200 and 2000 rpm.
Complete when M090 actual value displays "1 " → Adaptation is complete .
