Subsequent Work

Only for vehicles with petrol particle filter 

1. Carry out particle filter regeneration.

   > Refer to Regenerating particle filter

   All vehicles 

   Information 

   • After removing, installing or replacing, perform the "Sensor wheel adaptation" function using the PIWIS Tester. 
   • To actively teach the adaptation, perform an adaptation drive together with another person. 
2. Reset sensor wheel adaptation:
   1. 2.1 Connect PIWIS Tester  to the vehicle.
   2. 2.2 Select Engine electronics (DME) control unit  .
   3. 2.3 Select Maintenance/repairs  tab
   4. 2.4 Perform Sensor wheel adaptation reset  .
   5. 2.5 Follow the instructions on the PIWIS Tester  .

   All 982 vehicles with 4 cylinders 

3. Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive  .
   1. 3.1 Get a second person to check the PIWIS Tester  while you are driving.
   2. 3.2 Select Engine electronics (DME) control unit  .
   3. 3.3 Select the "Actual values/input signals  " tab.
   4. 3.4 Select the group "General  ".
   5. 3.5 Select the actual value "Engine speed  ".
   6. 3.6 Select the "M_Misfiring  " group.
   7. 3.7 Select the actual value "M090_Sensor wheel adaptation  ".

      Value "1" = adapted and (value "0" = not adapted).

   8. 3.8 Select the "Misfiring  " group.
   9. 3.9 All 982 vehicles with 4 cylinders 

      Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive  .

      1. 3.9.1 Note the actual value "Segment adaptation for rough running, status  ".

         Value "0" = adapted and (value "2" = not adapted)

      2. 3.9.2 Restore combustion engine to operating temperature.
      3. 3.9.3 Perform adaptation drive until M090 actual value  displays "1  " → Adaptation is complete  .
      4. 3.9.4 Drive with brief acceleration.
      5. 3.9.5 Then sufficiently long overrun phase (accelerator pedal not pressed, no fuel injection).
   10. 3.10 All 982 vehicles with 6 cylinders 

       Perform sensor wheel adaptation with an adaptation drive  .

       1. 3.10.1 Bring combustion engine to operating temperature.
       2. 3.10.2 Drive smoothly for more than 1 minute.

          Generate a minimal load → Slight acceleration or slight ascent.

       3. 3.10.3 Speed at least 65 km/h.
       4. 3.10.4 Engine speed → 1200 and 2000 rpm.

Complete when M090 actual value  displays "1  " → Adaptation is complete  .
