Packing Lithium-Ion Module With Module Status "Warning" (Critical)

WARNING: Incorrect handling of high-voltage components 
  • Electric shock

    → Only appropriately trained and authorised persons are permitted to work on high-voltage vehicles and components.

    → Required qualification: High voltage expert.

    → Exceptions to the required qualification in the PPN under Navigation -> Aftersales -> HV Battery Solutions.

    → Observe national requirements and legislation for this work.

    → Always use insulated tools, e.g. > VAS 6883 - Insulated tool set  , when working on these components.

    → Observe general warning notes for working on the high-voltage vehicle electrical system.

CAUTION: Granulate dust when filling the hollow glass granulate (Extover® or PyroBubbles®) 
  • Irritation to respiratory system 

→ Use protective gear (breathing mask, protective clothing)
→ Wear protective gloves and goggles
→ Extract the resulting dust using a suitable device

Metal container for high-voltage modules

  1. Mask terminals of the lithium-ion module.
  2. Open metal container.
  3. Measure -1-  25 cm from the floor inside the metal container -2-  and mark this on the container wall (inside) using a water-resistant marker.

  4. Wear protective clothing, breathing mask as well as goggles and protective gloves.
  5. Position air extraction hose -2-  in the metal container -1-  in order to extract the dust and switch on the air extraction system.

  6. Fill hollow glass granulate -2-  into the metal container -1-  up to the edge until the line marked on the inner wall of the container is completely covered by hollow glass granulate.

  7. Place lithium-ion module on hollow glass granulate in the metal container.

    1. 7.1
      IMPORTANT: The gap -A-  between the lithium-ion module and metal container must be at least 12 cm.
    2. 7.2
      IMPORTANT: It must be possible to cover the lithium-ion module with at least 20 cm of hollow glass granulate from above.

    IMPORTANT: The metal container must be completely filled with hollow glass granulate, right up to the top edge.
  8. Fill the metal container -1-  up to the top edge -2-  with hollow glass granulate.

  9. Close the metal container and secure it with the tension locks.
    1. 9.1 Visually inspect the lid seal on the -2-  metal container -1-  .

    2. 9.2 Fit lid on the metal container and lift it up again. Perform visual inspections. The cross on the inside of the lid must be visibly pressed down in the hollow glass granulate. If it is, the metal container is filled correctly.
    3. 9.3 If necessary, -2-  adjust the tension locks using the lock nut so that the lid of the metal container -1-  is securely sealed.

  10. Affix hazardous goods label -2-  in a clearly visible position on both  long sides of the metal container -1-  .

    Forms for the required hazardous goods stickers can be found in the HEOL Manual.

  11. Affix UN 3480 -3-  label on both  long sides of the metal container -1-  over the hazardous goods label -2-  .
  12. Affix identification sticker -4-  for the battery on both  long sides of the metal container next to the UN 3480 -1-3-  sticker.
  13. Attach document bag

    Information 

    The original test log for classification of the lithium-ion battery must be kept in the Porsche Centre.

  14. Complete accompanying documentation and place it in the document bag together with another copy of the test log for classification of the lithium-ion battery.
  15. Affix "Item number (large)" label on one short side of the transport box.
