Installing (Outer) Rear Wheel Housing (Front Section)

Information
- Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive.
- The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed.
- Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available.
Information
- Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface.
- Apply adhesive on bonding areas -A-
and -B-
of the body.

> Application depth 0.5 mm
Joint area
- Apply adhesive to (outer) rear wheel housing (front section) in bonding areas.

- 2.1 Apply adhesive to (outer) rear wheel housing (front section) in bonding areas -A-

> Application depth 0.5 mm
- 2.2 Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface.
> Application depth 3 mm
- 2.1 Apply adhesive to (outer) rear wheel housing (front section) in bonding areas -A-

- Fit in rear wheel housing (outer) (front section) and secure it.
- Rivet in rear wheel housing (outer) (front section).

Joints
- 4.1 Set rivets at the points -A- . > BLIND RIVET 999.190.229.01
- 4.2 Set rivets at the points -B- . > BLIND RIVET 999.190.227.01
- 4.3 Set rivets at the points -C- . > RIVET 9A7.008.473.00
- Resistance spot-weld rear wheel housing (outer) (front section).
Spotwelds
- Secure rear wheel housing (outer) (front section).
Joints
- 6.1 Tighten self-tapping screw -1- .
- 6.2 Join -2- by applying a full weld.
- Centre catch bar -1-
through rear side panel with wheel housing reinforcement -2-
and tighten screws -3-
hand-tight.

- Fit in rear side panel and secure to the body.
- Drill holes for rivets as a positioning aid. > diameter 4.0 mm
Positioning holes
- 9.1 Countersink holes. > VAS 6957 - 100° countersink
- Remove rear side section.
- Unscrew screws -3-
and remove catch bar -1-
and wheel housing reinforcement -2-
from rear side panel.

- Apply adhesive to (outer) rear wheel housing (front section) in marked bonding areas.

> Application depth 0.5 mm

- Apply adhesive to wheel housing reinforcement in marked areas.

- 13.1 Apply adhesive to marked areas. > Application depth 0.5 mm
- 13.2 Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surfaces.
> Application depth 3 mm
- Rivet in wheel housing reinforcement for positioning. > BLIND RIVET PAF.912.885
Positioning holes
- Resistance spot-weld wheel housing reinforcement.
Spotwelds
