Preparing Rear Closing Panel For Installation

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

1. Fit in rear closing panel and secure it to the body.
2. Prepare connection points for rear closing panel.

   Blind rivets

   1. 2.1 Drill bore holes for blind rivets -A-  through both sheet metal plates using > diameter 6.6 mm  .
   2. 2.2 Drill bore for blind rivet (countersunk head) -B-  through both sheet-metal panels using > diameter 6.5 mm  .
   3. 2.3 Make counterbore at the rivet hole -B-  using > VAS 6957 - 100° countersink. 
3. Preparing rear closing panel joints.

   1. 3.1 Drill bore holes for blind rivets -A-  through both sheet-metal panels using > diameter 6.6 mm  .

      Information 

      Countersunk head of the flow-form rivets must be pointing outwards. Observe the required punch and joining direction.

   2. 3.2 Punch holes for flow-form rivets -B-  .
4. Remove rear closing panel.
5. Prepare rear closing panel for bonding and riveting.
