Installing (Inner) A-Pillar Reinforcement

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

1. Fit A-pillar (inner) reinforcement and check that it fits perfectly.

   Information 

   • Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. 
2. Apply adhesive on bonding areas -B -  of the body.

   > Application depth 0.5 mm

   Joint areas

   Information 

   • Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. 
3. Apply adhesive to (inner) A-pillar -B -  reinforcement.

   > 5X00IN21 WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE PAH.071.781.00

   > Application depth 0.5 mm

   Joint areas

   1. 3.1  Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface -B -  .

      > Application depth 3 mm 

   Information 

   • Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. 
4. Apply adhesive to (inner) A-pillar reinforcement.

   > Application depth 0.5 mm

   Joint areas

   1. 4.1  Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface.

      > Application depth 3 mm 

5. Secure A-pillar (inner) reinforcement.

   Steel welding

   1. 5.1  Resistance spot-weld (inner) A-pillar steel reinforcement.
   2. 5.2  Apply a full weld to the A-pillar (inner) in areas -1-  .
6. Resistance spot-weld (inner) A-pillar steel reinforcement.

7. Apply a full steel weld to the A-pillar reinforcement.

   1. 8.1  Apply a steel resistance spot-weld to the A-pillar (inner) reinforcement in areas -A -  .
   2. 8.2  Rivet in A-pillar (inner) reinforcement in areas -B -  .

      > BLIND RIVET 999.190.229.01 

9. Rivet in A-pillar (inner) reinforcement.
