Removing Outer Roof Pillar

Information 

Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

Information 

Mark cut A  in accordance with the new part. Make sure to leave an overlap of approx. 30 mm with respect to the body.

1. Mark and make cut -A-  . > Dimension 10 mm

   Cut on A-pillar

   Information 

   Make cut in accordance with the extent of the damage.

   Cut on B-pillar

   Information 

   Mark cut A  in accordance with the new part. Make sure to leave an overlap of approx. 30 mm with respect to the body.

3. Mark and make cut. > Dimension 60 mm

   Cut on C-pillar

4. Loosen seams in the door aperture at the front and rear.

   Seam areas

   1. 4.1  Heat the marked bonding areas using > V.A.G 1416 - Hot-Air Blower  .
   2. 4.2  Bend up edges in door aperture using > VAS 6635 - Crimping pliers set, 4-piece  .
5. Loosen outer roof pillar.

   Rivet area

   1. 5.1  Remove punch rivets -A-  using > VAS 6790 - Compact Booster  .
   2. 5.2  Loosen friction element welded joints -B-  .

      > 5X00IN29 REPLACING FRICTION ELEMENT WELDED JOINT

   3. 5.3  Drill out penetrated joint -C-  using > Diameter 4.4 mm  .
6. Heat bonding areas using > V.A.G 1416 - Hot-Air Blower  .
