Commissioning/Activating Era GLONASS Emergency Call System

NOTE: NOTIFICATION 
Voltage drop 
  • Irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming/coding 
    • Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
    • Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
    • Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The terms "Ignition on" and "Starting engine" are re-defined for fully electric vehicles (battery electric vehicles - BEV).

Establishing operational readiness/Ignition on: 

Prerequisites for establishing operational readiness: High-voltage battery is sufficiently charged, remove vehicle charging cable from the vehicle charge port, put driver's key in the emergency start tray.

Establishing operational readiness automatically: Get into the vehicle and close the driver's door. The driver's key is recognized inside the vehicle. Operational readiness is established.

Establishing operational readiness manually: Press Start/Stop switch. The driver's key is recognized inside the vehicle. Operational readiness is established.

Establishing operational readiness/Starting engine: 

Establish operational readiness and engage transmission range. The vehicle is now ready to drive and can be moved.

Ending operational readiness/Switching off ignition 

Ending operational readiness automatically: Get out of the vehicle with the driver's key and close the driver door. The driver's key is no longer detected outside the vehicle. Operational readiness ends.

Ending operational readiness manually: Press Start/Stop switch until the instrument cluster is switched off.

Ending driving readiness/Stopping engine 

Vehicle is stationary: Press the P  button on the instrument cluster. The vehicle is parked.

Information 

The instructions in the Tester  take precedence, since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in the Tester. 

Information 

Flight mode must be deactivated in order to start/activate the ERA GLONASS emergent/call system.

  1. Establish operational readiness on the vehicle.

    Information 

    Make sure that you have sufficient mobile phone and satellite reception.

  2. Wait 10 minutes.
  3. Check whether the ERA GLONASS profile is available.
    1. 3.1  Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
    2. 3.2  Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

    3. 3.3  Select the vehicle type if required.
    4. 3.4  Select the Connect control unit  in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
    5. 3.5 Actual values/input signals  must now be selected.
    6. 3.6 Mobile communication  must be selected.
    7. 3.7  The following displays must be available:
      1. 3.7.1  eCall (Russia) ERA profile status: ERA profile availability
      2. 3.7.2  eCall (Russia) ERA profile status: ERA profile active status
    8. 3.8  If the displays are available, continue with Step 4.

      If the displays are not available, continue with Step  16.

  4. End operational readiness on the vehicle.
  5. Loosen battery ground strap.

    > Refer to the appropriate service information.

  6. Wait 2 minutes.
  7. Secure battery ground strap.

  8. Establish operational readiness on the vehicle.
  9. The emergency call button indicator light -A-  in the roof console lights up red or green.

  10. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it.
  11. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

  12. Select the vehicle type if required.
  13. Select the Connect control unit  in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  14. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  15. Read out SIM identification  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
    1. 15.1  Perform procedure according to menu guidance.
    2. 15.2  Result: SIM identification complete.  Continue with Step  30.
    3. 15.3  Result: No ERA GLONASS profile downloaded.  Continue with Step 16.
  16. Create ticket and contact Technical Support.
  17. Park the vehicle. Make sure that the parked vehicle has sufficient mobile phone and satellite reception.
  18. Make ready for use on the vehicle in the specified time period.

    Time zone - Moscow, Russia: 3.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

    1. 18.1  Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it.
    2. 18.2  Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

    3. 18.3  Select the vehicle type if required.
    4. 18.4  Select the Connect control unit  in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
    5. 18.5 Drive links/checks  must be selected.
    6. 18.6 Connection set-up  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
      1. 18.6.1  Do not enter any values in the Activation time  and Activation value  fields.
      2. 18.6.2  Press F8 to start.

  20. End operational readiness on the vehicle.
  21. Loosen battery ground strap.

    > Refer to the appropriate service information.

  22. Wait 2 minutes.
  23. Secure battery ground strap.

  24. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Establish operational readiness on the vehicle.
  25. Place original remote control (hand-held transmitter) in emergency start tray.

  26. Select the vehicle type if required.
  27. Select the Connect control unit  in the overview.  Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
  28. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  29. Read out SIM identification  must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
    1. 29.1  Perform procedure according to menu guidance.
    2. 29.2  Result: SIM identification complete.  Continue with Step  30.
    3. 29.3  Result: No ERA GLONASS profile downloaded.  Back to Step  16.
  30. Stop operational readiness on the vehicle, wait 5 seconds and reestablish operational readiness on the vehicle.
  31. Press the emergency call button in the roof console 5 times within about 20 seconds.

  32. Follow the instructions shown on the emergency call system.
    1. 32.1  Activate the emergency call system according to menu guidance.
