Installing C-Pillar Reinforcement

Information 

• Apply adhesive evenly over the entire bonding surface. 

Information 

• Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive. 
• The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed. 
• Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available. 

1. Install C-pillar reinforcement and check that it fits perfectly.
2. Apply adhesive evenly to the marked areas -A-  of the body.

   >Application depth 0.5 mm

3. Apply adhesive to marked areas -A-  .

   Bonding area

   1. 3.1 Also apply a bead of adhesive all around the bonding surface.

      >Application depth 3 mm 

4. Secure C-pillar reinforcement.

   Self-tapping screws

   1. 4.1 Screw in self-tapping screws -1-  .

      > 5X00IN24 SETTING SELF-TAPPING SCREWS

   2. 4.2 Apply a steel resistance spotweld in the marked areas -A-  .
   3. 4.3 Rivet in C-pillar reinforcement.

      -B-  >BLIND RIVET 999.190.229.01 

      -C-  >BLIND RIVET 999.190.227.01 

5. Secure C-pillar reinforcement.

   Rivet in area -A-  . >RIVET 9A7.008.473.00 

   > 5X00IN23 REPLACING PUNCH RIVETS AND PENETRATED JOINTS

   Rivet in area -B-  . >BLIND RIVET 999.190.230.01 

   Apply a steel resistance spotweld in area -C-  .

6. Apply a full steel weld to the C-pillar reinforcement.
