Preparing A-Pillar For Installation
Information
- Before final assembly, make sure you fully understand all the work steps involved and carry out a trial assembly without applying adhesive.
- The bonding process can only be carried out reliably when a smooth and swift sequence of operations is guaranteed.
- Do not begin bonding work until all materials and tools necessary for later repair work are available.
- Remove wing rail (section) from A-pillar.
Information
Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.
- Fit in A-pillar.
Cuts
- 2.1 Cut the A-pillar at the transition point to the body leaving an overlap.
- 2.2 Fit in A-pillar and secure it to the body.
- 2.3 Make cuts through the A-pillar and body in the overlap areas.
- Remove A-pillar.
- Cut sheetmetal insert used as a welding backing strip for the weld areas from the old A-pillar.
- Drill holes for flow-form welding rivets.

- Prepare A-pillar for bonding.

- Prepare marked area for flow-form welding and bonding.
