Removing Outer Roof Pillar Section

Information 

• Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle or a similar component. 
• Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. 

Information 

Only make cuts in the top plate. Make sure not to damage the plate underneath when doing this.

1. Mark and make cuts -A-  and -B-  .
   • >Distance 10 mm 
   • >Distance 40 mm

2. Loosen joints.

   Joint connections

   1. 2.1 Loosen friction element welded joint -A-  .

      > 5X00IN29 REPLACING FRICTION ELEMENT WELDED JOINT

   2. 2.2 Remove punch rivet -B-  using >VAS 852 001 - Body Dent Removal System, Aluminum  and >VAS 6790 - Compact Booster  .

      > 5X00IN23 REPLACING PUNCH RIVETS AND PENETRATED JOINTS

3. Bend up seams using >VAS 6635 - Crimping pliers set, 4-piece  .

4. Heat bonding areas using >V.A.G 1416 - Hot-Air Blower  .
