Adjusting Front Lid
Information
- Adjust gap dimensions on lid and add-on parts in accordance with gap specifications.
- If the clearance in the opening is too great or too small, accessories must be centred with respect to the body.
- Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
- The specified values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible.
- The guidelines apply to repair work and assembly work.
- Use star gauges to check the gap dimensions. >VAS 6937 - Adjusting gauge
- Loosen screws -2-
so that the upper part of the front lock -1-
can still be moved.
Upper part of front lock
- Loosen nuts -2-
on the front lid -1-
so that the front lid hinge -3-
can still be moved.
Front lid
- Close the front lid.
- By moving the front lid -1-
at the hinges, adjust the contours with respect to the wings, headlights and front apron -Arrows-
.
Front lid
- Tighten nuts on upper part of front lock to >Tightening torque 8 (6 ftlb.) Nm .
- Close the front lid and check the setting.
If the setting does not match the required values, the steps must be repeated.
- Tighten nuts on front lid hinge to >Tightening torque 14 (10.5 ftlb.) Nm .
- Check adjustment of front edge of lid with respect to the front apron.
- Change the inclination, gap dimension and height of the front edge of the lid by setting -arrow-

. The adjusting elements -1-
must allow slight preload on the front lid when it is closed.
Adjusting element
- Check the height adjustment and change it if necessary.
