Installing Wiper Arm

WARNING: Electrically moved components 
  • Danger of limbs being trapped or severed 
    • Switch off electric power to drive motor.
    • Make sure it does not switch on again.
    • Check that there is no electric charge.
NOTE: NOTIFICATION 
Voltage peaks 
  • Risk of damage to electrical load or to the control unit 
    • Switch off ignition and keep transmitter key outside of the transmission range (at least 5 m).
    • Switch off electrical loads before disconnecting or removing them.
  1. Position wiper arms on the wiper link and adjust them.
    1. 1.1  Adjust dimension -1-  for the left wiper arm. Adjustment value: 4.5 mm

    2. 1.2  Adjust dimension -2-  for the right wiper arm. Adjustment value: 4 mm

  2. Hold the wiper arm with slight pressure on the cone, fit the nut and tighten wiper arm to > Tightening torque 35 Nm (26 ftlb.)  .

    The nut must be replaced.

    Information 

    To counteract the deformation of the wiper rubber that occurs when it is at rest, the wiper arm is alternately moved to two different parked positions. However, the wiper arm may only be removed and installed in the lower parked position. Before removing or installing the wiper arm, operate the wiper once and watch whether the wiper is moved up again slightly into the upper parked position after it has reached the lower parked position. In this case, operate the wiper again so that the wiper arm is moved into the lower parked position.

  3. Check adjustments.
  4. Fit caps.

    Caps must engage securely.
