- Irreparable damage to control unit

→ Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
→ Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
→ Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A to the vehicle battery.

The terms "Ignition on" and "Starting engine" are re-defined for fully electric vehicles (battery electric vehicles - BEV).
Establishing operational readiness/Ignition on:
Prerequisites for establishing operational readiness: High-voltage battery is sufficiently charged remove vehicle charging cable from the vehicle charge port, put driver's key in the emergency start tray.
Establishing operational readiness automatically: Get into the vehicle and close the driver's door. The driver's key is recognized inside the vehicle. Operational readiness is established.
Establishing operational readiness manually: Press Start/Stop switch. The driver's key is recognized inside the vehicle. Operational readiness is established.
Establishing operational readiness/Starting engine:
Establish operational readiness and engage transmission range. The vehicle is now ready to drive and can be moved.
Ending operational readiness/Switching off ignition
Ending operational readiness automatically: Get out of the vehicle with the driver's key and close the driver door. The driver's key is no longer detected outside the vehicle. Operational readiness ends.
Ending operational readiness manually: Press Start/Stop switch until the instrument cluster is switched off.
Ending driving readiness/Stopping engine
Vehicle is stationary: Press the P button on the instrument cluster. The vehicle is parked.

If the Gateway control unit is programmed, ensure a charging voltage of 14.0 - 14.2 V at the Gateway control unit. Adjust the charger's voltage if necessary. When programming is complete, reset the charger's voltage.

Ensure the consistency of a combination of hardware and software versions
After performing software updates, always make sure that the target software versions are also actually installed on the control units and that the system is therefore ensured.
This also applies in the case of hardware replacement.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in the Tester .
- Connect Tester to the vehicle and start it. Establish operational readiness on the vehicle.
- Place original remote control in emergency start tray.
Emergency start tray
- Select the vehicle type if necessary.
- Select the Gateway control unit in the Overview . Press F12 to continue. Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)? Press F11 to continue.
- Select Coding/programming .
- Select Automatic programming
. Press F12 to continue.
- 6.1 Tester displays message: Programming successful.
- Return to the Overview menu.
- In the Overview , press F7 to switch to the Additional menu .
- Select Commission component protection

- 9.1 Read and follow the information and instructions on the Tester.
- 9.2 Teach component protection in accordance with menu guidance.
- 9.3 Tester displays message: Component protection taught.
- Select Enabling functions

- 10.1 Select Update functions . Press F12 to continue.

- Return to the Overview menu.
- Select the Gateway control unit in the Overview . Press F12 to continue.
- Select Maintenance/repairs .
- Select Reset range calculation

- 14.2 Perform reset according to menu support.
- Battery replacement

- 16.4 Follow the instructions and notes on the Tester.
Vehicles with emergency call function: continue with Step 17.
Vehicles without emergency call function: continue with Step 21.
- Check whether emergency call button LED lights up in the roof console.
- 17.1 Emergency call button LED lights up green: Continue with Step 21.
- 17.2 Emergency call button LED lights up red: Continue with Step 18.
- Select the Connect control unit in the Overview . Press F12 to continue.
- Select Drive links checks .
- Connection set-up
must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
- 20.1 Follow the instructions and notes on the Tester.
- 20.2 Establish connection according to menu guidance.
- 20.3 Emergency call button LED lights up green.
- 20.4 If the connection setup fails (emergency call button LED remains red): Create a ticket in the PCSS.
- Go back to the Overview .
- In the Overview , press F7 to switch to the Additional menu .
- Read out all fault memories , process and delete existing faults if necessary.
- Exit the diagnostic application. End operational readiness on the vehicle. Disconnect Tester from the vehicle.
