Checking Locking Effect Of Automatic Belt Device

  • Danger to other people on the roads 

    → Perform drive tests on a stretch of road with no traffic.

The automatic belt device has two locking functions 

  1. Pull the belt strap out of the automatic belt device with a strong jerk.

    If no locking effect occurs, replace the entire seat belt and seat-belt buckle.

    > 692419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT BELT LOCK 

    > 692519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BELT LOCK 

    In the event of faults in the extension or retraction of the seat belt, check whether the locking lug of the automatic belt device is engaged correctly in the sheetmetal bracket on the body.

    • The second locking function is triggered by a change in the sequence of vehicle movement (vehicle-dependent locking function).
  2. Fasten the seat belt.
  3. Accelerate to 20 km/h (12 mph) and perform emergency stop.

    If the seat belt is not locked by the blocking mechanism when you brake, replace the entire seat belt and seat-belt buckle.
