Installing Three-Point Belt, Front
- Triggering of seat-belt pretensioner unit

→ After disconnecting the battery, wait 1 minute before disconnecting the seat-belt pretensioner unit.
→ Remove ignition key and disconnect the battery. Route or insulate the ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier is avoided.

→ If removed for an extended period, the seat-belt pretensioner unit must be stored in a safe place.
→ Transport the seat-belt pretensioner unit in such a way that the seat belt can retract safely if it is actuated.
- Irreparable damage to control unit

- Fault entries in the control unit
- Control unit programming/coding is aborted
- Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming/coding
→ Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
→ Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
→ Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A to the vehicle battery.

Always replace screws on the three-point seat belt. Micro-self-locking screws must not be adjusted or loosened and then screwed on again.

Do not twist the three-point seat belt during installation.
- Install belt reel -1-

- 1.1 Insert belt reel -1- and fit screw -11- by hand.
- 1.2 Push the floor covering aside and screw in and tighten screw -10- > Tightening torque 50 Nm (36.9 ftlb.)
- 1.3 Tighten screw -11-
> Tightening torque 5.6 Nm (4.1 ftlb.)

Route electric lines outside of the belt roll-up area.
- 1.4 Plug in and lock electric plug connections -9- .

Once the screw has been tightened, the belt deflector must level out on its own in a vertical position or in the relevant support direction.

- Install trim panel on belt fastening point.
- Connect battery ground strap.
- Teach seat-belt pretensioners on vehicles with optional ACC.
- 7.1 Connect tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- 7.2 Select the vehicle if required.
- 7.3 In the Overview , select the Airbag control unit. Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)? Press F11 to continue.
- 7.4 Select Maintenance/repairs.
- 7.5 Teach reversible seat-belt pretensioners must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
- 7.6 Follow the instructions and information on the Tester and press F8 to start.
- 7.7 Read out fault memory. Clear it if necessary.
- 7.8 Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect tester from the vehicle.

Dispose of replaced and non-ignited airbag and seat-belt pretensioner units in accordance with local legal requirements and transport regulations.
