Removing Crankshaft

  1. Remove oil pump chain drive.
    1. 1.1 Remove chain for oil pump drive -1-  from the crankshaft sprocket -2-  .
    2. 1.2 Unscrew screws on guide rail -3 and 4-  .
    3. 1.3 Remove guide rail.

  2. Lock balance shaft bracing wheel -1-  .
    1. 2.1 > T40362 - Locking tool  must be inserted as far as it will go into the cut-out on the balance shaft bracing wheel -1-  . Then turn it 180° clockwise to lock the backlash compensation.

  3. Mark crankshaft bearing covers using a colour marker.
  4. Remove crankshaft.
    1. 4.1 Unscrew screws on crankshaft bearing covers -1 to 9-  .
    2. 4.2 Pull crankshaft bearing covers off the cylinder block using puller T40332  .

      Information 

      You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.

    3. 4.3 Remove the crankshaft from the cylinder block and set it down on a clean surface.
    4. 4.4 Remove bearing shells and store them together with the bearing covers so that they cannot get mixed up.
