Replacing Power-Steering Gear: Notes

- Loosen universal joint -1-
on power-steering gear.
Universal joint mounting
- 1.1 Unscrew screw -2- and replace it.
- 1.2 Pull universal joint off the pin on the steering gear and slide it towards the steering column.
- Release and disconnect cable plug -2-
on front speed sensor -1-

- Loosen tie-rod ball -1-
on the wheel bearing housing.

- 3.1 Unscrew nut -2- on joint pin for the tie-rod ball as far as required so that it is flush with the upper edge of the joint pin.
- 3.2 Press off joint pin for tie-rod ball using > T10187 - press-out tool.

- 3.3 Unscrew nut -2- from joint pin for the tie-rod ball.
- Disconnect electric line -1-
on the power-steering gear -2-

- 4.1 Release and disconnect cable plug -3-.
- 4.2 Loosen bracket -4-.
- Remove screws on secondary bearing for power-steering gear -1 and 2-.

- 5.1 Unscrew screw -1- and counter at the hexagon nut -2-.
- 5.2 Replace threaded connection.
- Remove threaded joints -2-
on the main bearing of the power-steering gear -1-.
Get another person to hold the power-steering gear.

- Remove power-steering gear in a downward direction.
