Replacing Cd/DVD AUTOCHANGER

NOTE: Voltage drop 
  • Irreparable damage to control unit 
  • Damage to control unit 
  • Fault entries in the control unit 
  • Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
  • Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming/coding 

    → Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.

    → Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.

    → Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The PIWIS Tester  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the PIWIS Tester  .

  1. Replace CD/DVD autochanger.

    > 916019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DVD AUTOCHANGER 

  2. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
  3. Select the vehicle type if required.
  4. In the overview  , press F7 to switch to the Additional menu  .

    The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.

  5. Component protection start-up  must now be selected. Follow instructions and procedure. Press F12 to continue.
  6. Enter the PPN user name and password  . Press F12 to continue.
  7. Allow the Tester to run the procedure.
  8. Check the chassis number. Enter the order number. Press F12 to continue.
  9. Allow the Tester to run the procedure. Press F12 to continue.
  10. The Component protection start-up  message appears. Press F12 to continue.
  11. Once the teaching process is completed successfully, the status is displayed:

    e.g. Gateway: Component protection taught

    e.g. PCM 4.0: Component protection taught

    and so on...

    Press F12 to continue.

  12. The message "Component protection start-up was successful" appears. Press F12 to continue.
  13. Go back to the overview. Press F12 to continue.
  14. Select the DVD autochanger  control unit in the overview. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
  15. Update confirmation  must be selected. Press F12 to continue. Press F8 to start.
  16. Allow the Tester  to run the procedure. Press F12 to continue.
  17. A message appears reporting that the check was completed successfully. Press F12 to continue.
  18. Read out the fault memory  and erase it if necessary.
  19. Exit the diagnostic application.
  20. Switch off the ignition.
  21. Disconnect the Tester  from the vehicle.
  22. Carry out a function test on the DVD autochanger.
