Removing Brake Fluid Reservoir

Information 

When carrying out work during which fluids can escape, leave electric plug connections to be disconnected locked and connected for as long as possible. This prevents fluid from getting onto electric contacts and causing corrosion.

Information 

Brake fluid - even thinned brake fluid - causes corrosion on electric contacts, thereby impairing functions.

  1. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -4-  and protect it from brake fluid and other contaminants using appropriate means, e.g. a plastic bag.

  2. Have suitable stoppers ready for closing off connection openings on the brake fluid reservoir and brake master cylinder.
  3. Place suitable material underneath to collect emerging brake fluid, e.g. clean, absorbent cloths.
  4. Remove brake fluid reservoir -1-  .
    1. 4.1 Unscrew and remove screw -3-  .
    2. 4.2 Pull brake fluid reservoir -1-  off the brake master cylinder -2-  .
    3. 4.3 Close off connection openings on the brake fluid reservoir -1-  and brake master cylinder -2-  with stoppers.

      Removing brake fluid reservoir

  5. Clean off any escaping brake fluid immediately using suitable cleaning aids.

    Wash affected components again with water and dry them.
