Removing Three-Point Belt, Front

WARNING: Incorrect handling of seat-belt pretensioner unit 
  • Triggering of seat-belt pretensioner unit 

    → Observe safety regulations for handling seat-belt pretensioner units.

    > 6X00IN HANDLING AND REPLACING AIRBAG AND SEAT-BELT PRETENSIONER UNITS

    → Observe disposal regulations for seat-belt pretensioner units.

    > 6X00IN DISPOSAL OF AIRBAG AND SEAT-BELT PRETENSIONER UNITS

    → After disconnecting the battery, wait 1 minute before disconnecting the seat-belt pretensioner unit.

    → Remove ignition key and disconnect the battery. Route or insulate the ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier is avoided.

    → If removed for an extended period, the seat-belt pretensioner unit must be stored in a safe place.

    → Transport the seat-belt pretensioner unit in such a way that the seat belt can retract safely if it is actuated.

Information 

Dispose of replaced and non-ignited airbag and seat-belt pretensioner units in accordance with local legal requirements and transport regulations.

  1. Move the seat forward and upward.
  2. Pull trim panel on belt fastening point -2-  up off the front seat.

  3. Disconnect ground strap for battery.

  4. Unscrew screw -3-  and loosen seat belt mount -4-  .

  5. Unscrew screw -5-  and remove belt deflector -6-  .

  6. Unscrew screw -7-  and remove retaining bar -8-  .

  7. Remove belt reel -1-  .

    1. 7.1 Release electric plug connections -9-  and disconnect them.
    2. 7.2 Push the floor covering aside and unscrew screw -10-  .
    3. 7.3 Press seat belt aside, unscrew screw -11-  and remove belt reel -1-  .
