Removing Output Shaft Seal

NOTE:
Dirt and contamination
- Risk of damage to units or components
→ Protect components from dirt and contamination.
→ Clean or replace dirty components.
Information
- Be careful when spot drilling the seal to prevent damage to the sealing flange and bearing.
- Carefully remove drill chips and dirt.
- Remove circlip on the rear output shaft -1-
.

Information
- Due to component changes, different collar nuts are used in the vehicle.
- For the variant with a large collar, the seal can only be replaced after removing the nut.
- The collar nut must generally be replaced and retrofit on the standard component during assembly.
- The variant with the large collar is not available as a spare part.
- When fitting the standard nut with a small collar, a dust boot is also required.
- Remove dust boot -1-

- Unscrew large collar nut -1-
on output shaft using > 9933 - socket for transmission shaft nut
.
Do not remove standard nut with "small" collar!
- 3.1 Replace large collar nut!

- Spray outer sealing face of seal with anti-rust agent and leave it to take effect for a short time.
This makes it easier to pull off the seal.
- Remove gasket -1-
over the disassembly holes -2-
using > VAS 6965 - puller set

Rear output shaft seal
- 5.1 Screw tapping screws -1- into the dismantle holes and pull off evenly using > VAS 6965 - puller set .

on the output shaft.

- Carefully clean the sealing flange and check for chips in particular.
