Subsequent Work After Extracting/Disposing Of Contaminated Refrigerant In The Refrigerant Circuit
Information
The following description is used to assess the present time and the other procedure, if contaminated refrigerant is found during gas analysis.
Contaminated refrigerant did not cause any internal damage in the refrigerant circuit:
(Apparent from the normal usual discolouration of the refrigerant oil.)
Replace desiccator.
> Refer to 875519 - Removing and installing desiccator
Evacuate the refrigerant circuit for at least 1 hour.
Fill refrigerant circuit using air conditioning servicing equipment for R1234yf.
Check cooling output.
> 8X00IN - NOMINAL VALUES FOR PRESSURES AND TEMPERATURES
Contaminated refrigerant caused internal damage in the refrigerant circuit:
(Apparent from the significant discolouration of the refrigerant oil [as a result of damaged control elements or overheating of the air-conditioning compressor.])
Remove desiccator.
> Refer to 875519 - Removing and installing desiccator
Remove expansion valve.
> 877019 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING EXPANSION VALVE
Remove air-conditioning compressor.
> 873419 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR
- Check the condition of the inner surface of the refrigerant lines and refrigerant hoses (visual inspection). If damage is found:
Replace the relevant components.
Clean the refrigerant circuit.
Recommendation: Do not flush the refrigerant circuit using the air-conditioning servicing equipment, because there is a risk of contaminating the air conditioning service equipment with contaminated refrigerant. This could cause the air-conditioning servicing equipment to fail. Replace all components or clean with compressed air/nitrogen.
Install new desiccator.
> Refer to 875519 - Removing and installing desiccator
Install new expansion valve.
> 877019 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING EXPANSION VALVE
Install new air-conditioning compressor.
> 873419 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR
Fill refrigerant circuit using air conditioning servicing equipment for R1234yf.
- Check cooling output.
