Removing Heater

NOTIFICATION 

Danger of scalding 

• Coolant can be very hot. 
• Coolant may be pressurised. 
  1. → Only remove the heater when the cooling system has cooled down.
  2. → By carefully opening the catch on the reservoir, make sure that the cooling system is depressurised.

NOTIFICATION 

Danger of slipping due to emerging coolant 

• The emerging coolant will make the floor of the workshop slippery and may cause people to slip and fall over. 
  1. → Collect emerging coolant in a suitable pan.

1. Loosen coolant hoses -1-  .

   Coolant hoses

   1. 1.1  Clamp coolant hoses -1-  using > 3094 - hose clamp  .
   2. 1.2  Loosen spring band clamps -2-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamps pliers  .
   3. 1.3  Pull off coolant hoses -1-  .
   4. 1.4  Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
   WARNING: Emerging fuel 

   • Risk of Are 
     1. → Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
     2. → Collect emerging fuel, absorb it if necessary with a suitable binding material and dispose of properly.
     3. → Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
     4. → Attach warning sign to vehicle in a clearly visible position.
2. Disconnect fuel line -1-  from heater.

   Fuel line

   1. 2.1  Loosen spring band clamp -2-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamps pliers  .
   2. 2.2  Disconnect fuel line -1-  .
   3. 2.3  Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
3. Detach flexi-pipe for silencer -1-  .

   Flexi-pipe on silencer

   1. 3.1  Loosen screw-type clamp -2-  .
   2. 3.2  Pull flexi-pipe for silencer -1-  off the exhaust pipe.
4. Unclip electric line -1-  at position -Arrow-  from holder -2-  .

5. Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  from the circulating pump -2-  .

6. Disengage electric line -1-  from coolant hose -2-  at the marked positions -Arrow-  .

7. Loosen heater with holder -2-  from the body.

   Mounting for heater

   1. 7.1  Unscrew and remove screws -1-  .
8. Remove heater.

   Electric plug connections on heater

   1. 8.1  Pull heater with holder forward so that the electric plug connections -1-  are accessible.
   2. 8.2  Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-  .
   3. 8.3  Remove heater with holder.
